We are very excited to introduce you to our Regent Street shop! With a history as rich as our own we are honoured to have been invited to be a part of one of the world’s most prestigious lifestyle destinations, famous for its flagship stores and international brands. Regent Street had its 200th anniversary in 2019 and with our 250th anniversary this year, we thought it would be the perfect place to launch our Peregrine Clothing retail shop.

Named after the Prince Regent, the street was built in 1819 under the direction of architect John Nash and its Grade II listed facades represent some of the most distinguished architecture in London. When built, Regent Street was the original shopping street for the capital and has grown into a world-renowned destination that curates world-class shopping and other seasonal events. Regent Street is considered an unmissable destination in central London. Its position in the heart of London means that Regent Street is just a stone’s throw away from other vibrant destinations, including Oxford Street, Carnaby Street, Soho and Covent Garden, as well as the nearby open spaces of Green Park.

PEREGRINE CLOTHING

78 REGENT STREET

LONDON

W1B 5RW

We look forward to welcoming you soon!

Valentines day is upon us – Flowers and chocolates are at the forefront of every supermarket. Here at Peregrine, we believe that one of the best and most romantic things to do on Valentine’s day is to forget everything and just get back to nature.

There’s nothing quite like a relaxing romantic stroll with your partner for Valentine’s Day. The lush green countryside is perfect for a quiet reflection on how in love you are…or maybe the fresh air will just contribute to an argument about who’s walking too fast or which path to take to get back to the car park. Either way, you can be happy you have done some exercise and spent some quality time with each other.

Here are four of our favourite tried and tested romantic walks around the UK.

Lulworth Cove – Dorset

The beautiful white pebble beach and crystal clear waters of Lulworth Cove is the perfect coastal walk, set on the Jurassic coast. Formed by the combined forces of the sea and a river swollen by melting ice at the end of the last Ice Age. Lulworth Cove is an English Heritage site, full of history. Dogs are permitted on the left side of the slipway so be sure to bring them along to take in the scenery on this romantic walk.

Pen Y Fan – Brecon Beacons

This one is certainly made for the adventurers – Rising above the Brecon Beacons is Pen Y Fan stands at 886m high. This makes it the highest point in Southern Britain with the breath taking views across mid Wales. You don’t have to be a professional hiker to tackle the summit – the easiest route taking just over 2 hours with plenty of kissing gates along the way.

Cheddar Gorge – Somerset

Cheddar Gorge is one of England’s most iconic and spectacular landscapes. Just 45 minutes from our home town of Bristol this circular walk makes for the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle. What better way to end a walk then to pop into a local pub, we recommend The Bath Arms Hotel in Cheddar to quench your thirst.

Friars Crag – The Lake District

Nature at it’s best. Home of the memorials to Ruskin and Canon Hardwicke Rawnsley, one of the founders of the National Trust. The painter, John Ruskin described the view as one of the three most beautiful scenes in Europe, you can’t argue with that! The 8 mile level trail circles the lake, leading you through woodland and marshes.

In this series of posts, join us as we venture around the world getting to know some of our stockists and the exciting cities they’re situated. Our journey continues across the pond to Indianapolis: the state capital of Indiana. Here we visit our friend Tommy at James Dant: Purveyor’s of Men’s Goods. What’s great about Tommy, and how we’ve built a great relationship over the last few seasons working together, is not only his passion to sell brands that offer great quality products, but his drive to actually represent the brand. That’s why, with our proud heritage story and his attentiveness to the “whole picture”, Tommy is an excellent ambassador to Peregrine. This is a must visit for a first-class retail experience.

Tell us a bit about yourself and the city you live in

“James Dant is not only the name of the shop, but also my namesake. I was named after my dad, Thomas James Dant. The shop is located in Indianapolis, Indiana. Some call the midwest the heart of the country, and I think I would have to agree. We’re kind people. Everyone is friendly, yet with a chip on their shoulders. I think that’s why I opened the shop. There’s always been something to prove in Indiana. Something to be done that’s never been done here. The city has grown immensely in the last 7 years. We’ve had our cultural awakening and a bit of a renaissance if you will. One of the best things to do in Indy is walking the Canal on a spring day or visiting one of our many parks just on the outskirts of the city. If you’re looking for a world-class experience, you must visit the Indy 500 for the Month of May. Whether it’s down in the pits with drivers or up in the stands watching the race, there are hundreds of ways to experience the biggest race in the world!”

Tell us about your store and its ethos

“Our brand was founded on an ethos of buying better and therefore buying less, although that’s not always the case. It’s hard not falling in love with these brands which ultimately leads to heavy levels of support and repeat business. We want to work with brands who think about their impact. That should be from all angles. Most major brands choose one facet, like sales, to be their main driving factor. We don’t let sales guide our ultimate goal of building a better planet for everyone. We think people should be paid a living wage. We think brands should work really hard to limit their single-use plastic waste. We believe the better, longer-lasting clothing you buy, the less you’ll contribute to the waste our industry as a whole and fast fashion creates. Opening in Indiana, we felt we could be a leader in this market – a guide for other businesses it’s possible to accomplish that mission in a state whose politics don’t always coincide with the idea of a healthier planet. I think people everywhere can get behind that concept.”

Why do you stock Peregrine?

“When Peregrine reached out, it was perfect timing. We had been playing in this grey area between heritage and contemporary, and we felt Peregrine’s story landed smack dab in the middle. The allure of an English brand, still made in England was something that gripped our customers instantly. The waxed jackets and Harris tweeds were right up our alley. When we heard the story of a factory that had been in operation in England for over 200 years, we couldn’t pass on that. And to work with another brand that builds garments to last – pieces that get better with age – we knew Peregrine had to land on our shelves. Our favorite piece in the line every year is the Bexley Jacket. The black variation that now seems to be a staple in the lineup will always have our hearts; but, don’t overlook the mustard.”

What measures have you taken to help customers shop with you during the current climate?

“In the beginning days of closing our doors, this was not easy. The transition from a specialty clothing store dealing with one-on-one customer interactions with a heavy focus on customer service, to an online version of that was hard. We had to find a way to transfer that experience. Our initial reaction was to just tell the story. We started filming from facing videos with our phones to tell people how we were doing. That turned into telling people more detailed stories about the product we carried. That snowballed into thanking individual customers via Instagram for their orders. And here we are, a full month into this global pandemic, and we’re surviving. It’s a beautiful thing to be involved in. We’re watching people vote with their dollars – some who may be just as insecure about all of this as we are. For that, we are immensely grateful and will continue to find ways to work with brands who give back and do their part to see us through this ordeal.”

In this series of posts, join us as we venture around the world getting to know some of our stockists and the exciting cities they’re situated. For our next stop, we travel to Seoul: the vibrant capital of South Korea and one of the leading cities for fashion and technology. Here we visit our new friends at Barbershop: a lifestyle store offering a wide scope of brands from all around the world. These guys seriously know their brands and you’ll be sure to discover something new aswell as meeting some familiar, historical favourites!

Tell us a bit about the city you live in

“Seoul is a very fast pace and modern city with many people! Communication between one another and public transportation makes the city a convenient place to discover many interesting places all over the city. I would recommend the Korean Gyeongbokgung palace in Gangbuk instead of the more modern region of Gangnam: where the immensely popular song “Gangnam Style” was set! If you’re looking for a more traditional side of Seoul then visit the old town that surrounds this beautiful palace. This area also includes the Bukchon Hanok village where you can roam the streets and see traditional Korean homes. Of course, our store is also located in the old town right next to the palace!”

Seoul also has an amazing street food scene. You must visit the Gwangjang market: one of the oldest markets in South Korea. Here you can try snack foods at amazing prices such as savoury pancakes, rice cakes, seaweed rolls and a range of fresh meats and fish.

Tell us a bit about your store and its ethos

“We are a store in Seoul that started 10 years ago in 2010. We are an independent that discovers and introduces good brands and companies with a rich history of over 100 to 250 years and also brands that have history with our customers! The village in which our store is located is the only area in which the roads have not changed for 500 years. That’s why, in this historic village, a history of quality products is key for us”

Why do you stock Peregrine?

“Peregrine is a traditional knitwear company with a rich history going back to 1796. Of course, the quality is also excellent. I like Peregrine’s knitwear as it’s very signature look to their brand. I bought knitwear from them so that the store has a greater variety. They also have a great range of British wax jackets which we will introduce for the AW season”

As the SS20 season is your first season with us, what’s your thought on the collection?

“As the season is heading from spring to summer, I recommend Peregrine’s Zero Waste knitwear. The Zero Waste polo shirts and tees are knitted in 18 gauge using organic cotton: a seamless garment with excellent fit, no pilling. They are cool, environmentally friendly knits. High quality, elegant yet functional”

In this series of posts, join us as we venture around the world getting to know some of our stockists and the exciting cities they’re situated. We continue our journey a little closer to home in the Northern English city of Manchester to visit our friends Mr Hulme and Mr Lanigan of Lanigan & Hulme: a premium menswear store that showcases some of the best brands that Great Britain has to offer. Enjoy a heartwarming, first class retail experience where you can relax, have a drink and know you’re in the safe hands of Neil and Phil who have a combination of over 40 years experience in retail. Lanigan & Hulme is a true gem and a must visit for the bustling Manchester shopping experience!

Tell us a bit about the city you live in

“Our Store is in the amazing city that is Manchester: THE city of Music and Football. If you do visit, you have to go to John Rylands Library; if you love Harry Potter you will love this iconic Manchester building. Our Manchester store is within the Royal Exchange Arcade, part of the Royal Exchange, which has a great history itself and houses the famous award winning Royal Exchange Theatre. A short walk away you reach the Northern Quarter district, home to some of the best, eccentric bars and top restaurants Manchester has to offer. We also have the world’s biggest football museum: the National Football Museum which is definitely worth a visit!”

Tell us about your store and its ethos

“Our aim is to introduce and re-introduce the best in premium Menswear brands to Manchester city centre, catering for those who are sartorially minded with a love of the finest in quality materials and manufacturing.

Britain has created some of the world’s greatest and most well-known brands in the world and Lanigan & Hulme display a fantastic array of them, which is one thing that we look to with supreme pride! Innovation is undoubtedly one of the best qualities that Britain possesses and, equally, heritage and tradition are at the core of what these brands always manage to work with and showcase, season upon season.

We have created a one stop shop space, which is just as social as it is functional for purchasing your favourite clothing, footwear and accessories. You are able to visit, have a drink, relax and spend time making those all important decisions, hopefully learning about new and future favourite brands at the same time. You can also be forever safe in the knowledge that you are being guided and advised by an experienced peer who is just as passionate about style and quality as you are.

Manchester was “Cottonopolis”: the place for textiles. Over time we plan to have our own L&H label made here in Manchester!”

Why do you stock Peregrine?

“We stock Peregrine as it’s British made, timeless classic pieces that will stand the test of time. Also, some of the collections are made here in Manchester. The Hudson Aran Jumpers are a firm favourite with our customers.”

What measures have you taken to help customers shop with you during the current climate?

“With the current crisis, we have added Gift Vouchers on our website so customers can support us and use them when we finally open again, also we have added 10% off all orders and Free Delivery to UK orders on our website during the period of time that we are closed. Also, we are hand delivering Manchester orders (safely of course).”

In this series of posts, join us as we venture around the world getting to know some of our stockists and the exciting cities they’re situated. For our first stop, we journey to Strasbourg in the North Eastern region of France to visit our friends at Goodvibes: a contemporary store for Mens and Ladieswear.

Tell us a bit about the city you live in

“Strasbourg is a beautiful city and capital of the Alsace region. The city centre, surrounded by the river ‘Ill’, is great for history with buildings such as the Cathedral of Strasbourg. There is always a little wind that runs around the cathedral which, legend says, is the devil trying to enter! Alsace is historically known for local food so Strasbourg is a very nice place to discover French gastronomy with top restaurants and bars serving high quality dishes. All of this can be enjoyed by bicycle as the city centre is closed to cars making the area a 2 wheel paradise! All your shopping can be done by bike as you cruise along the cycling paths. You might even decide to cycle over to Germany which can be done within a 30 minute ride! Of course, there are lots more things to do and see so if you want to come over, pop by our store or send us an email and we will give you all the tips you need to have a great time!”

Tell us about your store and its ethos

“Goodvibes opened in 1993. Since then we have been providing fashion that is original, ethical and at a fair price. When customers visit our store for the first time, their first thought is that the store is very “original” and “different”. Customers are so used to seeing the same brands on the high street so when you push through our door you will see brands that you might not know! We prefer selling products that are fair and high quality instead of brands that are greater known around the world.
We have some great small French labels, an Italian men’s trouser manufacturer , Russian jackets and, of course, Peregrine Clothing!”

Why do you stock Peregrine?

“We choose to sell Peregrine Clothing because they correspond exactly with our philosophy. Peregrine is a fair business who sell authentic garments at a fair price! They use exceptionally good quality British wool for their jumpers along with modern English style. They also have an impressive long line of heritage as clothing manufacturers”

Goodvibes, 57 + 66 Grand Rue, 67000, Strasbourg, France

Go somewhere new with your favourite people, pack your bags and lose your signal! Crags and lochs, windswept mountains and deep-rooted tradition.

The region is home to many of the symbols that represent Scotland. The kilt was first worn by those who protected this land. Its music is similar to that of Ireland, but has a voice that is distinctive for those who are masters of the bagpipes. Formations that are both rugged and serene, the Scottish Highland’s beauty is one that should be experienced first hand. So you’ve got in the car, chosen a road trip playlist – where do you visit first?

Glencoe

So much myth, legend and history precedes a visit to the expanse of Glencoe and Loch Leven, that many visitors are unprepared for the sheer beauty and breath-taking serenity of this vast sweeping pass. Enjoy a leisurely stroll round the Lochan Trail on a summer evening or walk to the Signal Rock – where the signal to attack was given for the Massacre of 1692. Go for a ramble to the Hidden Valley, where rustlers of old used to hide their spoil.

Steall Waterfall And The Nevis Gorge

One of the best short walks in Scotland, this route heads through the dramatic and beautiful Nevis Gorge and leads to the awesome Steall Falls. Situated in Glen Nevis near Fort William. It is Scotland’s second highest waterfall with a single drop of 120 metres.

Loch Nevis

The southern border of Knoydart is an area often called Britain’s last wilderness. It can only be reached by boat or by a long walk as there are no roads into the peninsula. Nevis means “heaven” in Gaelic and there are days when this seems truly fitting in this wild corner of the world.

What To Wear?

You’’ll fit in with the rugged moorland wearing a textured jumper – Wool is one of the most resilient fibres, with a natural breathability, anti bacterial properties and a natural water resistance – which makes it the perfect choice for exploring the natural environment. Did we mention its super cosy? Where is your favourite place to get away for the weekend? Share with us using the hashtag #myperegrine

Here at Peregrine we want to make sure our jumpers and coats stand up to the test of the most extreme weather. We thought there would be no better way to test this than by getting in touch with our friends at family run business Husky Tours Lapland. They face some of the harshest winter weather and with over 80 huskies to look after there is no escaping it.

Kent wears the Larsen Crew Neck in Ivory – Jordana wears the Heather Jacket in Slate with a Ribbed Beanie in Mole.

Firstly could you give me the history of Husky Tours? What made you decide to start a sledding business?

In December 2005 I was working for an adventure company that sent me to Kiruna, Sweden. I had a group that went for a husky trip, where I met my current husband. He was one of the guides and he took me on the ride of my life!! From there I ‘missed’ my flight home and settled in Norway for a little while untill we could find neutral ground in Svappavaara. We worked as freelancers for many the other dog sledding companies in the area at that time, we had more and more requests to run trips on our own. Having the knowledge of how others run their companies we decided to try things a little differently. Create a company to share our passion with other adventurers, and try to live the outdoor lifestyle with our dogs and family!

We’ve heard Lapland can reach below – 40 degrees, how do you deal with/prepare for the coldest months?

Here we have experienced minus 48! The way we prepare is to layer.. and layer and layer! This is where merino wool comes in!! It’s all about dressing properly! We run our trips at all temperatures, so it’s imperative we have excellent gear. Keeping your neck and head warm is really important. as is your feet with warm wool socks.

What sort of different husky tours do you offer?

From our sit back and relax tours where guests get to sit on the sled and just enjoy the ride and the scenery (particularly the amazing aurora borealis in the evening) to tours where the guests get to help harness the dogs, drive them together with a friend and overnight on our weekend trips. On our combo trip, there’s a combination of both sitting and driving. One person sits and the other person drives the team of 5 dogs. Halfway the guests get to swap over so they get the best of both worlds. For those that want to drive their own team of dogs this is also available as just a day trip, an overnight tour staying at our homely lodge or a weekend trip!

What’s your favourite part about husky sledding and why?

The incredible feeling of freedom. When you are on the sled, with 8 dogs in front of you, complete silence, starlit sky, aurora borealis above you..it doesn’t get any better than this!

Thank you to Jordana, Kent and the whole family.

A good shop is one you can step into and immediately loose yourself in a miscro-cosm of expertly-designed products, soft lighting and exquisite visual merchandising. An all-encompassing place that presents the consumer with a concept or lifestyle ready for them to explore.

That is why we are very proud to say that Peregrine Clothing is now stocked front and center in ‘Lost in Pablos’; A newly-opened haven of refined, smart-casual attire for the modern man.

The lifestyle store sits on a beautiful street corner in Gent, Belgium –  like an emerald among the cobbles. Inside is a careful selection of understated but well-crafted products from brands sourced all over the globe.

We asked owner Lisa a few questions about the store:

Where does the name ‘Lost in Pablos’ come from?

I picked the name out of a dream I had a few years ago.

It was a dream about my own store in the sixties, and on the window was written “Lost in Pablo & los camicas”

The name is as absurd as the story, but this is how it went. And the name stuck on me, I kept using it and it fit’s in my concept: jungle-ish and not to serious.

Besides, my fathers name is Paul, which is the same as Pablo in Spanish. So I also call it a homage to my father.

What made you want to open a Men’s concept store?

After studying fashion design and CAD CAM for fashion/textile education, I have gained over 13 years’ experience in menswear retail, selling men’s suits and casual men’s clothes.

Whilst working in retail, I was an assistant buyer at a multi-brand menswear shop and became an experienced made to measure tailor.

It became a passion to dress men to their best, and I felt ready to use the considerable experience I’ve gained at my very own store ‘Lost in Pablos’. The shop is a blend of personal passions, an artistic place full greenery where you can find sustainable pieces with an eye for aesthetics. Mainly clothes of course, but also furniture, collages and paintings.

What is your favorite piece from Peregrine AW17?

I am a big fan of the Funky jumper. That was also the piece that attract my attention at the Peregrine stand at the show in Berlin.

And I am glad it did, it was the first piece that was immediately sold out in my shop!

Not only the quality of the wool, but the color contrasts and not to miss; the Harris tweed on the shoulder pads = love it!

Describe the ‘Lost in Pablos’ man in 3 words?

All ages, quality-service minded, effortless cool

The store has been open for a mere few weeks but is already attracting alot of attention and why wouldn’t it? We know we could while away a Saturday afternoon rifling through rails of clothing under the tropical leaves if we were local.

A big congratulations to Lisa and the team on their opening night and we look forward to working with you for many more seasons to come!

A tiny jungle on our doorstep…

Welcome to Wild Leaf at 63 Overton road; A specialist store / showroom for indoor plants and interior landscaping. Its like stepping into a Henri Rousseau painting with an overwhelming about of textures and colours and a range of both tropical and Arad plants – some of which have been on the planet even longer than I have.

A background in sustainability and a future in Interior landscaping..

The store is the project of Tya, a graduate in Environmental Sustainability and daughter of two gardeners. Tya told us how she had transitioned from working in corporate sustainability and developed her own concept store which combined her passion for interior design with her love, knowledge and experience of plants.

Expect big growth…

Wild leaf has only been open for 3 weeks but is attracting alot of custom and Tya has plans to expand the store into a platform to showcase her interior landscaping and design talents. The shop will double as Tya’s informal office where she can share her vast knowledge in botanical taxonomy and meet with clients to develop their personal or business spaces into living works of art.

How can you choose a favorite…

When plants are coming and going through the door at 63 every day you probably cant get too attached but Tya did let us in on her favourites. She loves the broad-leaf tropical plants like the Xanthosoma which are having a serious revival at the moment. These elephant-ear plants were a big hit in the seventies and eighties but Tya described how she prefers the contemporary styling of them which sees them situated in cool, dark painted rooms against wicker or ceramic that is textured enough to be a feature but not so much that it overpowers the delicate textures of the plants. These plants don’t like temperatures below 10 degrees but love humidity so are great to have in a light filled bathroom.

It’s a hit…

Wild Leaf already has a best-seller which is called the Oxalis Triangularis (named after its rounded triangular lleaves). This one has proven popular for its low price point (£12) and the fact that it grows fast and the rich plum-hued leaves add a burst of colour to any interior. Many of the plants in Wild Leaf are importated from contacts or ‘growers’ in Amsterdam, and Tya told us that you can expect new and exciting plants every time you visit Wild Leaf as she is keen to bring many new and exciting species to the attention of her customers.

Location is everything..

We were curious to ask which plants from her Arid – tropical spectrum suited which rooms. Cactuses and desert plants suit and thrive in any room with alot of light, it doesn’t have to be hot but it shouldn’t be a bathroom because the humidity will cause them to rot over time.

Tropical plants like the beautiful Asplenium Scolopendrium, for example, need warmth and humidity so would do well in a kitchen or bathroom.

Back in 20…

Thanks Tya for letting us roam and chat with you today – it is always great to meet with neighboring businesses, especially ones with such an hands-on and knowledgeable approach to their craft. We know where we will be spending our lunch breaks for the foreseeable future!3 Likes
