PRODUCT CARE

Wool

All the jumpers are crafted from 100% wool.

This makes them super-snug but also means that you need to take extra care when washing them.

We advise that you HAND-WASH ONLY in cool water as any heat can cause the wool fibres to shrink and your knitwear to become misshapen.

Use a wool specific, natural detergent such as this one – Shear-Delight

Lay the garment flat to dry so that it doesn’t lose its shape.

Pilling

Pilling is caused by rubbing during wear and, although it can occur in any parts of the jumper it is most common on the arms of the garment when they are constantly coming into contact with the body of the jumper.

Because pilling is so complex, nobody can guarantee that it won’t occur, but there are a number of ways to prevent pilling. We recommend using a small battery-operated pill and lint removal devices known as either “de-pillers” or “fabric shavers”, a de-polling comb or simply gently removing the pills with your hands.

Wax Jackets

All of our jackets are made from waxed cotton in order to make them shower-proof and weather resistant. Wax jackets are notoriously difficult to clean so please take care when looking after yours. We do not recommend using a washing machine or a dry cleaner to wash your jacket.

We use two types of wax for our jackets. Dry Wax and Antique Wax.

Antique Wax

Antique wax is a classic cotton waxed material used in jackets such as the Bexley and the Baxter. To care for this type of jacket please see below:

Brush off any loose dry dirt with a soft brush or a damp sponge. If there are any particularly stubborn areas of dirt you can use a soft piece of cloth, cool/warm water and a gentle natural detergent to concentrate on the affected area, do not use a degreasing soap, such as dish soap. Please be aware that after this process your jacket may need rewaxing. We sell a Millerain wax on our website, follow the link here

Dry Wax

Our Dry wax jackets have the same benefits as a classic wax jacket but with a stylish matt finish, as seen on our Fell jacket and Ladies Oversized Parka. The cleaning process is similar to above however when rewaxing please use a dry wax spray. We recommend Nikwax’s cotton proof spray.
